چکیده

Weak gravitational lensing provides a unique method to map directly the dark matter in the Universe. The majority of lensing analyses uses the two-point statistics of the cosmic shear field to constrain the cosmological model yielding degeneracies, such as that between σ8 and Ωm, respectively the r.m.s. of the mass fluctuations at a scale of 8Mpc/h and the matter density parameter both at z = 0. However, the two-point statistics only measure the Gaussian properties of the field and the weak lensing field is non-Gaussian. It has been shown that the estimation of non-Gaussian statistics on weak lensing data can improve the constraints on cosmological parameters. In this paper, we systematically compare a wide range of non-Gaussian estimators in order to determine which one provides tighter constraints on the cosmological parameters. These statistical methods include skewness, kurtosis and the Higher Criticism test in several sparse representations such as wavelet and curvelet; as well as the bispectrum, peak counting and a new introduced statistic called Wavelet Peak Counting (WPC). Comparisons based on sparse representations show that the wavelet transform is the most sensitive to non-Gaussian cosmological structures. It appears also that the best statistic for non-Gaussian characterization in weak lensing mass maps is the WPC. Finally, we show that the σ8-Ωm degeneracy could be even better broken if the WPC estimation is performed on weak lensing mass maps filtered by the wavelet method, MRLens.

Cosmological model differentiation through weak gravitational lensing

We investigate the potential of weak gravitational lensing maps to differentiate between distinct cosmological models, considering cosmic variance due to a limited map extension and the presence of noise. We introduce a measure of the differentiation between two models under a chosen lensing statistics. That enables one to determine in which circumstances (map size and noise level), and for whi...

How Sensitive Are Weak Lensing Statistics to Dark Energy Content?

Future weak lensing surveys will directly probe the clustering of dark matter, in addition to providing a test for various cosmological models. Recent studies have provided us with the tools which can be used to construct the complete probability distribution function for convergence fields. It is also possible to construct the bias associated with the hot-spots in convergence maps. These techn...

We investigate the astrophysical implications of the model by using the corresponding gravitational potential. By using the weight function of the weak lensing , for the model,...

Probing cosmology with weak lensing selected clusters II : Dark energy and f ( R ) gravity models

Ongoing and future wide-field galaxy surveys can be used to locate a number of clusters of galaxies with cosmic shear measurement alone. We study constraints on cosmological models using statistics of weak lensing selected galaxy clusters. We extend our previous theoretical framework to model the statistical properties of clusters in variants of cosmological models as well as in the standard ΛC...

Statistics of Weak Lensing at Small Angular Scales: Analytical Predictions for Lower Order Moments

Weak lensing surveys are expected to provide direct measurements of the statistics of the projected dark matter distribution. Most analytical studies of weak lensing statistics have been limited to quasilinear scales as they relied on perturbative calculations. On the other hand, observational surveys are likely to probe angular scales less than 10 arcminutes, for which the relevant physical le...
